Spring Awakening: Kicking Off the Growing Season at the Neighborhood Family Garden!

Spring has officially arrived, and that means one thing—it’s time to get our hands in the soil and start the growing season at the Neighborhood Family Garden! 🌱✨

This first week has been all about cleaning and preparing our plots for a season of abundant growth. Over the winter, leaves, weeds, and debris accumulated, so we gathered as a community to clear the beds, refresh the soil, and make sure everything is in top shape. Volunteers of all ages grabbed their rakes, shovels, and gloves to clear out weeds, remove old plant matter, and turn the soil—creating the perfect foundation for a thriving garden.

Now that our plots are refreshed and ready, we’re mapping out our vegetable plan for the season. We’re excited to grow a variety of fresh, delicious produce, including:

🥕 Carrots

🍅 Tomatoes

🥬 Kale & Collard Greens

🌶 Peppers

🧄 Garlic & Onions

🥒 Cucumbers

🌿 Herbs like Basil, Thyme & Mint

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be starting seeds, planting early crops, and prepping trellises for climbing vegetables. We’re also making sure our watering system is in good shape and adding compost to enrich the soil.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or a first-timer, there’s plenty of room to join in! The Neighborhood Family Garden is not just about growing food—it’s about growing connections, community, and a love for the land.

Stay tuned for more updates as we start planting and watch our hard work come to life! 🌿🌸

Happy growing!
